Que Sera, Sera (Whatever will be, will be)

Artist: Doris Day

Album: CBS Classics: Radio Classics of the 50's

Song Length: 2:06

George's Thoughts: One of the most popular Viennese Waltz songs, and for good reason. A nice tune and classic lyrics that capture the imagination. Doris Day's version is one of the most requested songs in history. It's also regulation speed for Viennese Waltz, a nice plus. Unfortunately, while CBS did a very nice job keeping this aging recording clear it just doesn't have the fine audio fidelity of more modern versions. Also found on Casa Musica's "Best of Ballroom Music Part 2." The remake on "The World of Standardtanze" is nicely done with wonderful audio quality, but it is too fast for competition use at 62bpm.

Song Lyrics:

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother what will I be
Will I be pretty? Will I be rich?
Here's what she said to me:

[Chorus:]
Que, sera, sera, whatever will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be will be

When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweethear what lies ahead
Will we have rainbows day after day?
Here's what my sweetheart said:

[Chorus]

Now I have children of my own
They ask their mother what will I be
Will I be handsome? Will I be rich?
I tell them tenderly:

[Chorus]

Que sera, sera
