September in the Rain

Artist: Dinah Washington

Album: The Ultimate Ballroom Album 8

Song Length: 2:05

George's Thoughts: One of the most hauntingly beautiful Slow Fox songs around. I heard this lovely song played by the Ross Mitchell band at a competition, and while it was repeated seven times in a row (each solo for the final, then the group event) it never became tiring but actually became more enjoyable each time it was played. Lovely to dance to, with wonderful rise and fall and softness.

Song Lyrics:

The leaves of brown came tumblin' down, remember
In September in the rain
The sun went out just like a dying ember
That September in the rain

To every word of love I heard you whisper
The raindrops seemed to play a sweet refrain

Though spring is here, to me it's still September
That September in the rain

------ harmonica solo ------

To every word of love I heard you whisper
The raindrops seemed to play a sweet refrain

Though spring is here, to me it's still September
That September in the rain
That September in the rain
